Sacramento, California — ESI-AFRICA.COM — 27 July 2011 – For the second consecutive year, the number of people attending HydroVision International “’ the largest gathering of its kind in the world “’ reached an all-time high as hydropower professionals from all over the world gathered here to promote the use of sustainable hydropower.
HydroVision International 2011, which was held at the Sacramento Convention Center, drew the largest attendance in the history of the exhibition and conference. Hydropower professionals representing 44 countries attended the gathering, which featured more than 450 speakers and 311 exhibitors.
“This is really impressive," said Roger Ballentine, president of Green Strategies Inc. “There are a lot of people in Washington I wish could see this exhibit floor. This is a vibrant industry.”
Next year’s event will be held in Louisville, Kentucky from July 17 to 20, and already 75% of the exhibition space has been rebooked for 2012.
“California has 11 to 12% renewable energy and the potential to reach 20% by the end of this year,” said James Tracy, chief financial officer of Sacramento Municipal Utility District. “Now the goal is 33%, which is a big leap.
