Uganda wants clean technology

6 December 2007 – Ugandan delegates attending the UN Convention on Climate Change in Bali have demanded that developing countries be provided with clean technologies in order to develop without polluting their environment.

Solar-PanelMr Phillip Gwage, assistant commissioner for meteorology, quoted Article 4.5, which commits developed countries to providing practical help to promote environmentally sound technology.

The demand by Uganda has been included on the agenda for the Subsidiary Bodies for Implementation (SBI), a committee which advises parties which projects to implement and in which countries.

The climate change negotiations are taking place in Indonesia and are being attended by representatives from 180 countries.
