Project transaction and advisory services company, Themis, based in Istanbul is moving an 80 MW to 120 MW thermal power plant project in Rwanda to closure, on behalf of Hakan AS a Turkish investor with assets in mining and power generation. The Africa Finance Corporation was appointed lead arranger for mobilising debt of some US$160 million for the project.
Additionally, in 2015, Themis expects a 44 MW concessionary hydro power plant in Cote D’Ivoire to reach closure for which the agreement was signed in December 2013. Besides being the first private hydro plant in the region, it will also be the first power plant promoted by a local sponsor.
