2008 will see the launch of an exclusive new event on the African continent, to be co-located with African Utility Week. The Power Indaba will give the highest level decision makers and executives, strategists and government representatives the opportunity to gain cutting edge insight on the world of infrastructure finance.
Speakers will include corporate bankers, lawyers, business strategists and experts in finance structure from both Africa and the international finance community. The Indaba will tackle how Africa could best harness the sudden “wind of capital that was blowing its way”.
According to ESI Africa Publishing Editor, Nicholas McDiarmid, “There are indeed billions of euros and dollars around at the moment, and there are a number of things that need to happen to harness it. Governments needed to lead the way with projects and not wait for bidders to take the first step. They should also, of course, ensure that the regulatory environment is fit. But ultimately, governments need to take the opportunity now to remove the perceived risks and let this money work for the continent.”
There are many opinions out there and this forum aims to provide delegates with the information and networking experience to leave with concrete plans.
