Suzlon Wind Energy A/S sees potential in African Wind Power

Suzlon Wind Energy A/S(SWEAS), the world’s third leading wind turbine manufacturer (together with REPower) have shown their belief in the potential of Africa’s wind energy future, by sponsoring African Utility Week.  The organisers of African Utility Week announced this week that Suzlon has been confirmed as the Platinum sponsor for African Utility Week 2010.

Africa’s largest utility power conference is taking place at the ICC in Durban from 22 – 25 February 2010 and will bring together stakeholders from the entire African power sector to share experiences on issues such as how to plan, finance and implement a wind farm, the business case for renewable energy and practical insights into how to integrate renewable energy into a municipal environment.

“We see great potential for the African wind market” says CEO, Mr. Erik Winter Pedersen. “We believe that wind power is the energy of the future, and we look forward to providing wind power to Africa.”

“We are extremely pleased to partner with Spintelligent once again for this important African utility event. This conference provides us with the opportunity to underline the reliability and bankability of our Wind Farms, and the close-partnership we offer to our customers.”

Claire Volkwyn, Conference Director: “As the third largest turbine manufacturer in the world, we are pleased that Suzlon recognise the potential of the African market and acknowledge that African Utility Week is the only forum through which they can network with all the power industry stakeholders.”

Now in its 10th year, African Utility Week is a multi-track power conference and exhibition which brings together the leaders in power technology and service innovation, and the ‘who’s who’ of municipal, utility and government stakeholders who are shaping the future of the industry.  The conference programme focuses on issues around generation, transmission, distribution and the metering of electricity, as well as renewable energy generation. The 2009 conference and exhibition attracted 1 600 attendees to the three day event and the organisers have made allocation for 2 000 attendees in 2010.
