Maputo, Mozambique --- ESI-AFRICA.COM --- 30 September 2011 - Mozambique’s minister for mining resources Esperança Bias has revealed that the start of natural gas exploration in the country’s Rovuma basin will be known within a year, according to Rádio de Moçambique.

Bias stated in a broadcast here that the best way of making use of the natural gas was being studied in order to assure that Mozambique would be one of the main beneficiaries.

The minister told Rádio Moçambique that the natural gas reserves discovered by the American  company Anadarko Petroleum alone were expected to last for over 20 years.

She went on to say that other companies, such as Malaysia’s Petronas, were currently carrying out preparatory work and would soon start prospecting in the blocs they have in the Rovuma basin.
