South Africa’s Gamma substation near commissioning

Despite weather delays, progress on the 765 kV Gamma-Kappa transmission line in South Africa has shown steady increases with the contractor increasing the team complement and commencing with stringing activities. Meanwhile the Kappa-Sterrekus line has been divided into three sections, two of which were out on enquiry.

Early in 2014 electrical progress at Gamma substation was in the pre-commissioning phase with commissioning and energisation planned for middle of February 2014.

Electrical installation and testing is ongoing at Kappa and Sterrekus substations. Two 765 kV transformer phases have been delivered to Kappa substation.
