7 April 2008 – The National Energy Regulator of South Africa has be asked to withhold sections of Eskom’s tariff increase application on the grounds that the information is "business sensitive".
"Eskom requested that some of the issues not be made public because that felt it was ‘business sensitive’ information, said Ryna Boshoff, NERSA spokesperson .
A meeting will be held on Monday 7th April, and a decision made by NERSA as to whether to post an amended tariff application on the NERSA website for public comment.
Eskom is seeking a 53% tariff increase, despite being granted an increase of 14.2% at the end of 2007. The application was lodged on 18th March and public hearings will be held in order to determine the outcome of the request.
Written comment can be submitted to NERSA via their website, by April 29.
