Regulator imposes power levy

17 January 2008 – Zimbabwe’s Electricity Regulatory Commission has introduced a 1% levy payable by all undertakings licensed to generate, transmit or supply electricity.

transmission_linesIncluded in the undertakings who must pay the levy are the Zimbabwe Power Company, Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission Company and the Zimbabwe Electricity Distribution Company.

It also applies to any undertaking which generates, transmits or distributes more than 100 kilowatts of electricity. Overdue accounts will be charged at the base bank lending rate on the day that levy is payable.
