Nigeria considers power industry options

21 November 2007 – A ‘brainstorming’ conference is scheduled to take place on 29 November 2007 at the Rockview hotel in Nigeria, in order to find a lasting solution to the country’s electricity problems.

Attending the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) District Society of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) meeting are, amongst others Hajiya Fatima Balaraba Ibrahim, Minister of State, Energy (Power) and Engr Joseph Makoju, Special Adviser to the President on Power.

In a statement, the organising committee said that the theme for the conference was "Rebuilding value system in the power sector".

Organising committee chairman, Usman Gur Mohammed said "this is necessary because the value system has been significantly affected by two important phenomena; the power Sector Reform Act and massive deployment of pre-payment metering system in the country".
