Pretoria, South Africa — ESI-AFRICA.COM — 27 October 2011 – South African Energy Minister Dipuo Peters is expected to launch the R10 million Ikhwezi solar system manufacturing facility in East London in the Eastern Cape tomorrow.
Ikhwezi Unplugged is a leading designer, supplier and installer of renewable energy and energy efficient systems and consulting services. Based in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa, the company supplies and installs its products throughout Southern Africa.
allAfrica.com reports that Peters believes that the new solar system will assist government to meet its target of providing one million solar water heaters by 2014.
The facility will manufacture flat plate solar thermal collectors necessary for environmentally friendly energy sources. Imported from Germany, it will create jobs and train local installers in the solar technology field.
The system’s solar thermal absorbers are necessary for the conversion of solar radiation into energy, and its welding process is the most advanced and commercially viable technology for their industrial mass production.
