Cairo, Egypt — ESI-AFRICA.COM — 24 October 2011 – The Egyptian electricity minister Hassan Younis has announced that the country’s East Oweinat area is to be linked to the national power grid tomorrow.

Younis revealed in press statements released here that most of the 41 operations of the Oweinat power linkage plant had been finalised at a cost of USD180 million to feed East Oweinat with power supply needed for reclamation of 160,000 state-owned feddans.

The project includes a 340km Toshka/East Oweinat power line, a 220/66/22 kilovolt transformer station and three diesel power stations of 4MW capacity each, he said.
