The Southern African Power Pool (SAPP), a regional organisation of power utilities within the Southern African Development Community (SADC), has chosen the successful entities that will proceed with the development of a new trading platform for the Day Ahead Market (DAM) and Intra Day Market (IDM). The SAPP released a Request for Proposals on 20 December 2013.
Enerweb, in collaboration with its Norwegian partners, Bredesen Consulting, have been awarded the contract for the implementation of the new electricity trading platform for SAPP. The trading platform will cater for a Day-Ahead Market, an Intra-Day Market (up to one hour prior to dispatch) and a Physical Forward Market, with a view to incorporating other market considerations in the future.
A key component of the new trading platform is that SAPP has secured the right to expand the solution to include other African power pools or even deploy additional instances on the African continent.
