11 April 2008 – Three substations will be upgraded within the Mount Kenya region of Kenya to a cost of US$3.5 million, Kenya Power and Lighting Company’s (KPLC) chief executive, Don Priestman has said.

SubstationThe substations include Embori, Kiganjo and Kianjai and another substation will be built at Mweiga.

Mr Priestman was speaking at a cheque handing over ceremony a the Aberdare National Park, where he was handing over a cheque to the park’s warden, Catherine Wambani.

KPLC has dedicated one percent of after-tax profits to corporate social responsibility programmes and contributes toward the Kenya Energy Sector Environment Programme, established in 2007.
