28 July 2009 – The Standard of Kenya has reported that the International Atomic Energy Agency backs Kenya’s plan for nuclear power generation.

The Standard further reports that the IAEA is said to be willing to train technicians on the safe operation of nuclear power plants.

Kenya aims to triple generation capacity to 3 200MW by 2012, and is looking at exploiting all types of generation types, including nuclear and renewable energy.
