Tata Power was forbidden by Kenya from bidding for a 1,000 MW plant at Lamu on the country’s coast because of a breach of regulations. Tata Power was bidding both as an individual and as part of consortium, and this violates a rule blocking double bidding. Tata also has a controlling stake in one of the companies that’s part of the consortium it joined.
