Tokyo, Japan — ESI-AFRICA.COM — 10 May 2011 – Two Asian companies have been awarded the contract to build a major thermal power plant in North Africa, although few details are available at this stage.

The two companies are Mitsui & Company and Daewoo Engineering & Construction Company, which won the US$1.2 billion order to build a thermal power plant in Morocco.

They received the order from Abu Dhabi National Energy Company, according to a statement on the Japanese trading company’s website.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Limited  will supply steam turbines for the plant, while IHI Corporation will supply boilers, the statement said.
