Johannesburg, South Africa — ESI-AFRICA.COM — 19 September 2011 – Diversification of the energy mix, and prospects for cross-border power trading to secure energy for Africa’s future, are just some of the discussion points scheduled for the annual “Hydropower Africa” and “Solar Energy Africa” events taking place in South Africa this week.

The two conferences are being held at the Sandton Convention Centre here today and tomorrow, followed by post-conference workshops on Wednesday and a site visit to the Kafue Gorge and Kariba North Bank power stations on Thursday and Friday.

Some 450 experts from government, utilities, banks, legal firms and construction companies will be attending the events and focusing on issues surrounding the financing and the implementation of hydropower and solar energy projects in Africa – both large and small.
