Johannesburg, South Africa — ESI-AFRICA.COM — 08 November 2010 – The Clean Technology Fund (CTF) “’ a climate investment fund which promotes financing for the development promising low-carbon technologies “’ is offering US$85 million R586 million) to fund renewable energy and so-called co-generation energy projects in South Africa.  

In an advertisement in the “Business Day” newspaper here, the fund “’ whose capital is evenly managed in South Africa by the International Finance Corporation and the African Development Bank “’ is offering US$50 million (R345 million) to fund wind or solar projects and US$35 million (R241 million) for co-generation plants which use waste energy and gases to generate power.

The CTF is calling on interested South African organisations to submit proposals related wind or solar projects, and to co-generation energy projects.

The fund has a total of US$150 million (over R1 billion) available to fund projects in South Africa.
