31 May 2012 – Egypt’s minister of electricity and energy Hassan Younis says the country’s electricity sector has started setting up the first Egyptian solar energy power plan. This power plan extends until 2027 and the intention is to generate 3,500 MW of solar energy.

The Egyptian solar energy plan is part of the electricity sector’s strategy for supporting and spreading renewable energy usage.
