19 November 2007 – One thousand Ethiopian students will be trained as technicians to implement rural electrification projects.
An agreement between EEPCO and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions was signed last week, under which the TVET colleges provide theoretical training and EEPCO offers practical training.
One of the training outcomes will be to assist the students to establish a cooperative through which they will be able to secure contracts from EEPCO, said Dessalegn Mulaw, TVET System Reference and Capacity Building Department Head. Once training is complete, student can also secure maintenance work, he concluded.
The programme will be offered at the 30 TVET institutions across Ethiopia.
