4 November 2008 – Liberia’s Vice President Joseph Boakai has said that in order to re-electrify the country, rehabilitation of the country’s hydro plant is still a major priority.  Speaking during a visit to the offices of the Liberian Electricity Corporation (LEC) the vice president said, "The rehabilitation of the hydro is the final solution to meeting the people’s power needs."

According to Joseph Mayah, acting managing director of LEC, the utility was embarking on both medium and short term projects throughout the country in order to expand power supply.  He welcomed the visit by the vice president and said he hoped such visits would provide checks and balances within the public sector.
