Botswana plans coal to liquids plant

Botswana’s chamber of mines and the country’s ministry of minerals together with the Botswana Investment and Trade Centre will conduct a feasibility study over the next two years for coal-to-liquid project.

It is benchmarked upon Sasol, the world’s largest maker of motor fuels from coal. Botswana’s motivation is a desire to exploit the country’s coal resources estimated at over two hundred billion tonnes and reduce its annual fuel import bill.
