Aviva to submit 1 000MW proposal to Eskom

Aviva CEO,
Lindsay Reed

8 September 2008 – Aviva, the Australia and Botswana listed coal company, will submit a proposal to Eskom for 1 000MW additional power for the South African grid.

Speaking from Perth last week, Lindsay Reed, Aviva CEO, said the proposal was in response to Eskom’s bid for supply from independent power projects.

Aviva are expecting a partner to join in the proposal for a coal fired power station near their Mmamantswe coal resource north of Gaborone in Botswana. The proposed power station would consist of two 500MW air-cooled generation units.
