The hydropower station planned on the Kwanza River in Angola will comprise two units with six Francis turbines, each with an output of 340 MW. The 2,067 MW power station will supply power to an estimated 750,000 people.

International technology Group Andritz is to supply the electromechanical equipment for the new Lauca hydropower plant via Construtora Norberto Odebrecht to Gabinete de Aproveitamento do Medio Kwanza, a part of the Angolan power corporation Empresa Nacional de Electricidade (ENE).

The order value for comparable deliveries lies in the lower three-digit million euro range; the order will enter into force in the course of 2014 upon fulfilment of all administrative requirements.
