Algeria awards electricity data collection upgrade contract

29 May 2012 – Algeria’s national measurement and controls systems group, ENAMC, a subsidiary of Sonelgaz, the company that undertakes electricity and gas distribution in the country, has selected Itron to deploy a smart metering and data collection system. The deal will see the large-scale data collection system deployed across 58 distribution centres in Algeria over the next 18 months.

This will support the modernisation of the electricity network and enable commercial and industrial clients to better manage their electricity consumption.

ENAMC will locally produce tens of thousands of meters. Itron will supply the associated modems, and each centre will be equipped with Itron’s data collection system and the IT servers required to run the system.
