African Utility Week

The 5th African Utility Week will take place from 19 – 22 May 2009.  Leading the 2009 organising team for Africa’s leading strategic and technical power utility gathering is Claire Volkwyn, former publisher of ESI Africa – Africa’s premier power journal – for five years.

Ms Volkwyn is no stranger to the industry and her appointment as Project Manager on this event, which attracts over a thousand visitors to Cape Town, will serve in producing yet another African Utility Week that delivers on its promise of bringing key utility decision-makers together with suppliers.  With delegates and exhibitors from across Africa, as well as Europe, the USA and Asia, African Utility Week 2009 is the place to meet to resolve challenges in the sector and forge new relationships.

Also on the 2009 team are Nicholaas Louretz, Loudon Cito, Roshenda Barendilla, Rue Limekhaya and Mariam Chilwan.

African Utility Week is Africa’s largest technology and strategy event for the power and utility sector. The event’s unique training, networking and discussion platforms will demonstrate how utilities can be more efficient and offer cost-effective services through improved infrastructure maintenance, load management, delivery and revenue management choices.

The programme includes a number of elements, amongst them are:

  • Pre-conference workshops
  • Generation Africa
  • Transmission & Distribution Africa
  • Metering, Billing/CRM Africa
  • ESI Africa Water Metering Summit

The African Utility Week conference programme has been developed to provide a forum that identifies, discusses and forecasts developments in the industry. Top-level speakers from all key industry stakeholders will present their views using case studies, in-depth presentations and on interactive panels.
