Alistair Wray works for the UK Department for International Development as Senior Growth and Infrastructure Adviser in the Pan Africa Strategy Department.
He contributes to growth initiatives under the Africa regional and country programmes, in particular supporting the development of regional infrastructure and trade facilitation, including infrastructure collaboration through the Infrastructure Consortium for Africa and various multi-lateral funds.
Mr Wray joined DFID in 1991 and has held the post of Head of Profession for Infrastructure, responsible for infrastructure policy advice and quality assurance to the Department, and earlier had responsibility for the Asian infrastructure programmes. He has also held posts in Central Africa and South Africa working on country programmes.
Prior to joining DFID, Mr Wray lectured at Loughborough University on development engineering, and he has also worked directly for a number of development agencies and consultants in the Africa, the Far East and Latin America.
He is a civil engineer by background with interests in all infrastructure sectors including infrastructure financing and urbanisation processes.
