Lesotho gov seeks provision of standby generator

The government of Lesotho invites bidders for the supply, installation and commissioning of a new 250kva standby generator for the proposed new National Museum & Art Gallery in Maseru.

Tender documents can be obtained from the Ministry of Public Works and Transport – Procurement Unit Office, Maseru – Headquarters, Moshoeshoe Road, Maseru upon payment of a non-refundable deposit of M500 ($42).

Payment may be made in cash or bank guaranteed cheque payable to: Government of Lesotho; P.S. Ministry of Public Works & Transport – Building Design Services (MoPW&T-BDS).

Tender documents have been made available for collection from 31 January 2018.

Compliance criteria

  • Copy of Tax Clearance Certificate certified at Source
  • Copy of Trader’s License Certified at Source
  • A refundable Bid Security of M15,000 ( $1,000) in the form of a bank guaranteed cheque or a letter from accredited Financial Institutions licensed by Central Bank of Lesotho endorsed with a Revenue Stamp.
  • All schedules in the pre-qualification document must be completed in full

Any contractor or contractors, who were engaged by the Government in the past 12 months or still doing Works to date at an average value of M800,000 ($67,000), do not qualify to bid for this project.

A mandatory site inspection will be on Wednesday 7th February, 2018. Bidders must assemble at the Construction Site, Next to L.E.C. Sub-Station, Opposite the Royal Palace Site along Lerotholi Road, Maseru at 10:00am.

Additional information or clarifications of the tender documents may be requested from the unit in writing by bidders at least 15 working days prior to the tender submission deadline.


A tender with identification of bidder shall be submitted, properly sealed, signed and endorsed “Tender document for the supply installation & commissioning of a new 250kva standby generator for proposed new National Museum & Art Gallery for Ministry of Tourism, Environment & Culture, Maseru- Lesotho” shall be deposited in the Tender Box at First Floor, Ministry of Public Works and Transport-Roads Headquarters Building Industrial Area, opposite Browns Cash & Carry Wholesalers.

Bidders must submit one original and one complete copy inclusive of all tender information.

The deadline for this tender has been slated for 14 March 2018.
