The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has received a loan from the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) towards the cost of the construction of the 330kV Kumasi-Bolgatanga transmission line project. This forms part of the WAPP Inter-zonal Hub Transmission Project.
The power company intends to apply part of the proceeds of the credit facility for eligible payments under the contracts for the reconstruction and commissioning of the transmission lines from Volta (Tema)-Achimota-Mallam in the Greater Region, and 161kV Kumasi Substation (K1BSP) to 161kV Anwomaso Substation (K2BSP) in the Ashanti Region of Ghana as well as associated substations termination works.
GRIDCo is now inviting sealed bids from eligible bidders for the execution of the following transmission line works in three lots as indicated below:
Lot 1: Decommissioning of existing 26km, two single circuit line 161kV transmission line from Achimota to Volta and reconstruction into two double circuit lines.
Lot 2: Decommissioning of existing 12km single conductor double circuit 161kV transmission line from Achimota to Mallam and reconstruction into a twin bundled double circuit line.
Lot 3: Decommissioning of existing 12km 161kV K1BSP – K2BSP Transmission Line single circuit and reconstruction into a twin bundled double circuit line.
The works will involve decommissioning of the existing transmission lines and reconstruction, within the existing Right of Way (ROW), into twin bundled TERN double circuit lines.
This will include all relevant designs, procurement, installation and commissioning of the 161kV HVAC overhead transmission line as well as all associated surveys, engineering, civil works and relevant substation termination works.
The contracts to be completed in twelve months for lot 1 and eight months for lot 2 and 3 respectively will be awarded separately or in multiples based on the most economic consideration and qualification of the contractor.
Please note that no margin of preference will apply.
Bidders may obtain further information from and inspect the bidding documents at the office of GRIDCo each working day from 09:00 to 15:00 GMT, at the addressed provided.
A complete set of bidding documents has been made available for purchase by interested bidders from 30 January 2017, on the submission of a written application to the given address and upon payment of a non-refundable fee of $300 equivalent by hand or $450 equivalent including courier charges.
The method of payment will be cash or certified check in the name of Ghana Grid Company Limited.
