Ethiopia: EEP to develop Tendaho Geothermal Power Project

The Ethiopian Electric Power company is inviting qualified bidders to express interest for the procurement of full drilling services at the Dubti Field, for the Tendaho Geothermal Power Project.

The Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has received funds from the Agence Francaise de Development (AFD) and the European Union Infrastructure Trust-Fund (EU-ITF) to be spent toward the cost of the Tendaho Geothermal Power Project, and it intends to apply part of these funds to contract the drilling of six (6) shallow and two (2) deep geothermal wells at the Dubti field.

This project will be jointly implemented by the Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP) and the Geological Survey of Ethiopia (GSE).

EEP and GSE will provide senior personnel to a project management unit (PMU) that will manage the project, including making all planning and strategic decisions about the project.

EEP intends to prequalify experienced drilling contractors for the provision of Geothermal drilling services. It is expected that the call for bids for Full Service Drilling Company (FSDC) will be made in October 2017.

Requirements for Tendaho Geothermal Power Project

In order to prequalify, the applicants must meet certain experiences in providing similar drilling services, and resource requirements as detailed in the Prequalification documents.

Interested eligible Applicants may obtain the prequalification document and further information from the Address below from 08:30 A.M to 15:00 pm at local time.

Expression of Interest and Prequalification Submission should be presented in sealed envelopes (one original, two copy and two electronic copies), and delivered to the address below by 02 October 2017 and shall be clearly marked “Expression of Interest and Pre-qualification for Full Drilling Services for the Tendaho Geothermal Power Project”.

Bidding will be governed by eligibility rules and procedures in the Guidelines for the procurement of AFD – Financed Contracts in Foreign Countries.
