Egypt intends to build gas insulated switchyard station

The government of Egypt has secured a loan from the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD) to part-finance the procurement of materials and associated services for several packages of the 650MW Cairo West Supercritical Power Station.

The power station, which will consist of one steam generator, 1x 650MW steam turbine, generator and two condensers, now has government looking at applying part of the proceeds of this loan to an eligible payment under the contact for 500kV and 220kV gas insulated switchyard contract package.

Cairo Electricity Production Company (CEPC), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company, now invites sealed tenders from international bidders for performing all works related to, including but not limited to, designing, engineering, fabricating, furnishing, delivering, receiving at site, unloading, storing, installing, startup, training, testing commissioning, placing into successful operation and maintaining until issuance of taking over and acceptance certificate (TOAC) of all materials and equipment.

The work includes all relevant civil works, electro-mechanical documents for the 500kV and 220kVgas insulated switchyard and 500/220kV transformer.

The tender documents have been made available at CEPC’s offices from 24th August 2016.
