Benin gov seeks to revise Ecowas master plan

The European Union (EU), is calling both local and foreign individuals and consortium bidders, to determine interest in the contract for updating the Ecowas revised master plan for the generation and transmission of electrical energy (2012–2025).

The revised master plan will enable the authorities of the Ecowas and various stakeholders of the power sector in the region (public authorities, WAPP member utilities, WAPP Secretariat, donors, private investors, etc.) to have a clear, comprehensive and coherent view of the future development of power generation and transmission facilities in the region and to provide a rational basis for decision-making and implementation.

Ecowas revised master plan objectives

Particular emphasis will be placed on the opportunities offered by the development of renewable energy in the context of regional and international policies (Paris Agreement and nationally determined contribution (NDC) of the Member States of the Ecowas), combined with the concrete steps taken toward the establishment of the regional electricity market.

The contracting authority may, at its own discretion, extend the project duration and or scope subject to the availability of funding up to the estimated amount of approximately 15%.

Any extension of the contract would be subject to satisfactory performance by the contractor.

The bidders must be effectively established in a member state of the European Union or in an eligible region or territory.
