The Kenyan government has received credit from the International Development Association (IDA) towards the cost of the Kenya Electricity Modernization Project (KEMP). It is intended that part of the proceeds of this credit will be applied to eligible payments under the contract for single phase prepaid meters and meter accessories.

Tender information

The Kenya Power & Lighting Company Limited (KPLC) now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the supply of the goods.

Details of the single phase prepaid meter and meter accessories being procured are as stipulated below:

Bidding will be conducted through the international competitive bidding procedures as specified in the World Bank's guidelines: procurement of goods, works and non-consulting services under IBRD loans and IDA credits & grants by World Bank borrowers, January 2011 (Revised July 2014) (referred to as the "Procurement Guidelines").

The tender is open to all eligible bidders as defined in the Procurement Guidelines,in addition, please refer to paragraphs 1.6 and 1.7 setting forth World Bank's policy on conflict of interest.

Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from Kenya Power & Lighting Company Limited and inspect the bidding documents at the address given below from 09:00am to 16:00pm, Monday to Friday excluding public holidays.

A complete set of bidding documents in English may be downloaded at no cost by interested bidders at www.kplcco.ke or purchased at the address below upon payment of a non-refundable fee of Sh 1000($9.86) or equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency.

The method of payment will be cash or banker's cheque, payable at the Chief Accountant's Office, KPLC, Stima Plaza, 1st Floor and receipt obtained.

The delivery period is three to nine months and for details refer to section VII of the bid documents.

Qualification requirements

Refer to Section III of the bidding document. Bids must be delivered to the address below on or before 8th December 2016 at 10:00am. All bids must be accompanied by a bid security of not less than the indicated amount for each lot or equivalent amount in a freely compatible currency.
