Nuts For Growth Limited (project sponsor) and Arthur Energy Advisors (project developer), together invite interested parties to provide the Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation (EPCI) services necessary for the implementation of the Shea Nut Power Plant (SNuPP) Project.
The project sponsor
Nuts for Growth (N4G) Limited is a privately-owned, USAID- supported entity located southeast of Tamale at Duunyin, in the Northern Region of Ghana. N4G is involved in the purchasing, storage and processing of Shea Nuts; primarily from Ghana, Burkina Faso and Mali.
The project developer
Arthur Energy Advisors (AEA), which is an advisory services firm based in Accra, serving the African energy sector especially countries within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), has been contracted by the project sponsor, to arrange the development of a Shea Nut fueled biomass power plant, the Shea Nut Power Plant (SNuPP) in the context of the Ghanaian Power Sector.
The SNuPP Project
The concept for the Shea Nut Power Plant (SNuPP) Project is to build in two phases an approximately 9.5MW biomass power plant, preferably multi-unit station with all its ancillary components: Phase 1 will be between 4.5 and 5MW and same for Phase 2 – 4.5 to 5MW.
The plant, which is to be located close to Tamale, Ghana, is to be fueled with shea cake from the processing plant of the project sponsor nearby.
The EPCI contractor for the power plant equipment component of the project shall be responsible for the provision of all plant, equipment, materials, systems and services required to have a fully functioning power plant that converts Shea meal into electricity.
It is anticipated that the facility shall include the following plant and equipment:
- Feedstock Gathering & Conditioning Systems
- Gasifier Array: including; Gasifier, Carbon Cooling, Carbon Angers, Feedstock Feeder Anger, Quench Tank, Gas Drier, Vacuum Pump and Control Panel. –
- Power Generators (preferred voltage-11kV) CHP/Steam Boiler Unit
- Cooling Unit
- Unit Balance of Plant: Any other equipment, devices required to make the plant fully functional Spare Parts
- Any Special Tools & Lifting Devices
The services to be provided shall cover:
(a) Engineering & design,
(b) Permitting & licensing,
(d) Shipping & delivery,
(e) Installation, and
(f) Testing & commissioning of the plant & equipment.
Invitation to apply
Accordingly, Arthur Energy Advisors (AEA) now seeks the services of an EPCI contractor for the Power Plant Equipment component of the SNuPP project. If any bidders wish to participate in this EOI, kindly submit an EOI letter to the project developer on or before 10 November 2017.
Interested bidders should provide information demonstrating that they have the required qualification and relevant experience to perform the services.
The shortlisting criteria are:
- The EPCI firm must have at least five years working experience with biomass power plants
- Must have implemented at least two similar assignments in the last eight years
- Working experience in Ghana and Sub Saharan Africa is an advantage
Expressions of Interest must be submitted electronically to the email address provided by 17:00pm on 10 November 2017 and must include the following phrase in its subject heading: “SNuPP Expression of Interest”.
