The government of The Gambia has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Gambia Electricity Support Project.

It is intended that part of the proceeds will be applied toward payments under the contract for the plant design, supply and installation of power transformers upgrade and installation of switchgear.

Tender information for power transformers upgrade

The National Water and Electricity Company limited (NAWEC) now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the supply and must meet the following requirements.

  • Quantity: 2 10MVA 33/11KV 3-phase Power transformers with auxiliary equipment and materials.
  • Final destination: Two substations, Greater Banjul Area, The Gambia.
  • Main qualification requirements: Minimum three similar contracts during the last five years;
  • Minimum average turnover during the last three years of $2,000.

Bidding will be conducted through the international competitive bidding procedures as specified in the World Bank Guidelines: Procurement of Goods, Works and Non-Consulting Services under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits & Grants by World Bank Borrowers  [January 2011 revised July 2014] (“Procurement Guidelines”), and is open to all eligible bidders as defined in the Procurement Guidelines.

A complete set of bidding documents in English may be purchased by interested eligible bidders upon the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a non-refundable fee of $150.00.

The method of payment will be transfer or deposit. The document will be sent by Airmail/email or courier or pick up.

Submissions

Bids must be delivered to the address below on or before 18 May 2017 at 12:00pm. Electronic bidding will not be permitted.

All bids must be accompanied by a bid security of $30,000.
