The National Energy Regulator of South Africa (Nersa) hosted a subcommittee recommending a plan to procure 2,500MW of new nuclear power.

At the Enlit Africa digital event, Minister Mantashe said South Africa was making steady progress on its hydrogen society roadmap and invited collaboration at technical and financial levels.
Enlit Africa will kickstart its return with a visionary discussion on the “5Ds of the energy transition”, namely: decarbonisation, decentralisation, democratisation, digitalisation and deregulation.
“Hydrogen, specifically green and blue, has the potential to considerably accelerate sub-Saharan Africa’s electrification rate."
Seriti Resources has announced in a statement that all conditions of its acquisition of South32 SA Coal Holdings Proprietary Limited (SAEC) have been fulfilled and the sale is expected to be completed on 1 June 2021.
