Our sister publication, Metering & Smart Energy International, in partnership with OMNETRIC Group, hosted a webinar on Monday to discuss the challenges experienced by utilities in implementing cybersecurity solutions.
A study recently conducted by professional services firm Accenture, highlighted that 63% of utility executives are seriously concerned about interruptions to power supply on grid networks due to cyber-attacks.
As such, improving cybersecurity infrastructure portfolios and technologies to avoid blackouts is a growing concern for global utilities.
Amongst the 100 utilities examined in the study, 48% said they are well prepared to address an outage resulting from a cyber-attack.
Is your utility prepared?
How resilient is your utility’s cybersecurity framework against attacks?
The webinar, taking place on 11 December, addresses the potential threats utilities will face in the event they encounter an attack at a time when grid infrastructure and technologies are not secured at all or are not adequately secured.
The discussion will highlight how a UK- based electricity distribution system operator, Northern PowerGrid, approached the challenge of managing and protecting vast quantities of sensitive data.
