Commissioning Engineer

Job requirements

  • B Degree in Electrical / Appropriate Electrical NQF 7 level (B ENG, B Tech, B SC)
  • 4 Years relevant experience
  • Minimum 2 years relevant experience in MV electricity distribution
  • Valid Code B Driver's Licence
  • Computer Literate (MS Office Applications)
  • Proven financial and management skills
  • Managerial and supervisory skills
  • Ability to give attention to detail and high level of responsibility
  • Ability to work under pressure without tolerance for errors
  • Work overtime and render standby duties when required
  • Must perform duties in the Witzenberg Municipal areas
  • Fluent in at least 2 of 3 languages in the Western Cape, Afrikaans, English or IsiXhosa

Duties

  1. Assist in determining strategic direction of the Electro technical Division through alignment with the IDP, B2B, SDBIP and SCM policy
  2. Management of Electro technical Operations to ensure activities, projects, assignments are:
  • Monitored and deviations addressed
  • Corrective measures implemented to curb non-conformances, poor quality and perfomance
  • Enable delivery in accordance with objectives, procedures and cost parameters

3. Assist with the sound Financial Control to ensure the Division contributes towards meeting maintenance objectives and sustaining suitable quality standards of service delivery

4. Relationship Management and Communication ensuring information, advice or opinions are made available and communicated through various mediums accurately, clearly and adequately

5. Productivity, Performance and Personnel Management to promote and sustain motivational levels, productivity, performance and improved quality of work-life

6. Ensure Legal Statutory Requirements are maintained relating to electrical infrastructure and also compliance with relevant legislation, by-laws and policies, including OHS Act (85 of 1993) and NERSA conditions

Forward Planning Management for:

  • To ensure critical performance indicators are identified
  • Establish specific measures to enable and guide the Division plan
  • To manage and priotirise outcomes accordingly

7. Regular participation in field work, gathering of data and generation of relevant reports

8. Administration duties that relate to General Administration, Client Services and Distribution Services, including;

9. Drawing up of tender documents, technical reports, contract management

10. Investigating and resolving billing complaint, issues and attending to revenue protection

11. Interaction wit role players in both the private and municipal sectors
