On Thursday afternoon, the City of Cape Town issued a notice that Phase 1 load shedding would be implemented with immediate effect.
In a public statement, Eskom confirmed that its generation and distribution of electricity across the network was constrained due to the acts of sabotage and intimidation that characterised the industrial action by members of the trade unions yesterday.
Eskom commenced with Stage 1 load shedding at 17:41 today (14 June 2018).
