TrafoThe TMC Africa division of Martec as the sole Southern African distributor for TMC Italia S.p.A, the foremost European specialist manufacturer of cast resin transformers for distribution and special applications, is proud to announce its key features for renewable energy applications.

TMC, over the years, has developed and perfected transformers that have the best characteristics to be installed in renewable energy plants.

With its highly qualified technical team, TMC Italy participated in the drafting of regulations governing transformers for such applications, i.e. the IEC WG31 that defines the IEC 60076-16 regulation for application in wind energy.

The Research & Development Unit of TMC Italy has developed innovative solutions concerning electrical, mechanical and thermal strains, thanks to their own high tech laboratory equipped with an anechoic chamber, refrigerators for low temperature testing, impulse generator with 14 bit data collection and complete shielding of the test area and input filters for the removal of unwanted interference.

eolico_bassrisAs a result, a new heat disposal system for low voltage windings was patented, allowing a reduction of the size of coils. This is of particular interest for renewable energy plants that typically have less space available. Moreover, new winding systems that made the realization of multi primary transformers possible were conceived.

Well suited for renewable energy plants are high efficiency transformers from TMC which fully conform to the EN50541-1 standard which define transformer No Load and Full Load losses.

With such features, TMC Africa is well positioned to supply transformers ideal for the renewable energy industry.
