South African state-owned power utility, Eskom, has received a formal letter of resignation from the suspended chief financial officer, Anoj Singh, in line with the terms of his employment contract.
The board of Eskom, through the Chairman, has accepted the resignation and communicated the acceptance through Singh’s attorneys.
Singh’s resignation is with immediate effect.
Eskom spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe says the Board has accepted Singh’s resignation; however, he added that as far as the inquiry is concerned his resignation is a separate matter and he is still due to appear in court.
His resignation comes the eve before he was due to testify at the Parliamentary Eskom Inquiry, which resumed this week. Read more…
Despite his prompt resignation, the former Eskom exec is expected to appear in court today, where he will join his ex colleague, former acting chief executive, Matshela Koko.
Koko is scheduled to testify today during the parliamentary inquiry.
