The final nominal capacity of the plant will be 420 MW, making it one of the largest and the most efficient thermal power plants in Côte d’Ivoire.

However, blackouts have come as a rude shock in Cote d’Ivoire recently, as even during an eight-year political crisis that split the country and triggered two wars the last of which ended in 2011, outages remained so rare that hardly anyone owns a generator.
The African Development Bank, the United Nations, and the African Union have acknowledged the significant progress made in implementing Agenda 2063 and urged African countries to go further to fast-track economic transformation.
