Japan is recognised globally as having one of the lowest recorded transmission and distribution system technical losses.
As such, Toshiba is on a mission to share their expertise with African countries by advising in terms of reducing transmission and distribution technical losses. In this interview, Dr Toda Katsutoshi, fellow and special corporate advisor to Toshiba Transmission & Distribution Systems India, explains the practical solutions and emphasises that “losses are equal to the money thrown to the ground”.
He urges African utility companies to adopt suitable technologies as a first step toward reducing losses. However, Dr Toda stressed the importance of engineers and top management fully understanding the technology before implementation.
