Project lead for Initiate Africa, Naz Fredericks interviews two innovators of the Initiate Young Talent Challenge winning team from Strathmore University.

The challenge took place during the 2019 African Utility Week and POWERGEN Africa. The winning team from Strathmore University then took their innovation international, winning bronze in the Efficiency For Access Design Challenge, for their project.

Kijiji is a solar powered container with essential services for empowering for rural communities.

Initiate! energy start-up and innovation programme goes global

The global, multidisciplinary Design Challenge empowers teams of university students to help accelerate clean energy access. The competition began in September 2019, with students submitting their final projects in April 2020 and winners announced at the end of June this year.

In the video, the two innovators, Ignatius Maranga and Raymond Kiyegga talk about their journey with the Initiate project and their virtual trip to London to take part in the Efficiency for Access Design Challenge.
