About 75% of prepaid meters are bypassed and estimated billing being popular among Nigeria's discos, it’s unlikely to achieve a cost-reflective tariff.

In response to the challenge, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission has directed Meter Asset Providers to commence with rollout of meters no later than the 1st of May 2019.
