South African minister of energy, Jeff Radebe, will host the 4th International Energy Forum (IEF) symposium on energy poverty and Joint Oil Data Initiative (JODI) energy data transparency workshop for a sustainable future in partnership with the IEF.

Under the theme “Energy Data Transparency – a Key Enabler toward Sustainable Energy for All’, the event is scheduled to take place from the 30th April to 03 May 2019 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.

The IEF and the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) convene the symposium to engage African countries, including representatives from governments, industry, multilateral and bilateral organisations, finance institutions, and aid agencies to develop an understanding of the energy data and energy poverty issues, share experiences and knowledge. In addition, the engagements will serve towards finding a practical path forward to accelerate progress in achieving universal access to modern energy services by 2030 in support of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 7 – to ‘Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all’.
