A multinational investment firm is looking for a Financial Modeler to join their Cape Town office. If you have over 7 years of experience analysing and reporting on financial investments, and 5 years of work experience executing financial models for renewable energy infrastructure projects, this could be the perfect career move for you!

Description

Your in-depth knowledge of the wind, solar and biothermal energy industries as well as energy efficiency, management and the storage sector will allow you to understand how to optimise financial modelling and valuation for energy infrastructure projects. You should have a strong analytical as well as technical financial skill set, putting you in a strong position to drive quality, timely and comprehensive data and financial valuations for your clients. With brilliant verbal and written English communication skills, you will present your market research, findings and financial data to various stakeholders including the firm’s Investment Principles and Managing Partners (to whom you will report directly to).

Your daily responsibilities will entail undertaking vigorous market research and analysis and devising financial modelling and fund valuation techniques. You will be required to negotiate and monitor investment creation and exits, compiling accurate and high-quality investment memos and deal papers as you go. Your primary responsibilities will include financial modelling, forecasting and budgeting, financial structuring for different investments, undertaking valuation methodologies, M&A modelling and sensitivity and scenario analysis.

Your influence at the firm should be great, enabling you to eventually offer advice on the entire movement’s investment advisory leadership.

Education requirements

A finance-related university degree (with a focus on financial modelling)

Experience requirements

At least 7+ years of experience working with financial valuation and data analysis within the energy sector

Qualifications

A formal qualification related to Financial Analysis within the energy sector

Responsibilities

Skills

  • An interest in data management and financial modelling as well as modern energy technologies
  • Advanced knowledge of financial modelling using Microsoft Excel (primarily in renewable energy infrastructure and expansion of capital investments)
  • Confident user of the entire Microsoft Office Suite
  • Able to prioritise, manage time effectively and work towards strict deadlines
  • You should have creative problem-solving skills as well as an analytical mind, able to analyse complex data
  • Brilliant written and verbal communication skills in English. An ability to document, analyse and present your input to a variety of stakeholders
  • French and Portuguese language skills will be preferred
  • Excellent project management skills
  • You should be familiar with and able to follow industry standards and guidelines and work with a range of open-source data stores to analyse data
