29 Octobedr 2007 - The public and businesses in South Africa have been urged to use electricity sparingly.

While utility Eskom does not anticipate any load shedding this week, Tony Stott, Eskom spokesman says "The situation is still tight. We call on all consumers to use the electricity efficiently and conservatively."

There were load shedding fears when on Friday Eskom lost power from the Cahora Bassa supply, depriving South Africa of 3.2% of it's total capacity.

However, Cahora Bassa returned on Friday evening and some of the units which have been undergoing maintenance are once again online.
