Tender: Women economic empowerment via energy for productive uses
ECREEEE will via a grant cover investment related costs, specifically relating to purchase of energy equipment and technologies.

The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), with the financial support of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), is calling for submission of concept notes for grant support through the ECOWAS Facility for Gender Mainstreaming in Energy Access (ECOW-GEN Facility).

This special call is focused on supporting local civil society organisations (CSOs), women and community-based groups and associations (including youth organisations). Therefore, project concept notes should be driven by local communities and non-governmental organisation (NGOs).

Projects that get selected will be awarded grants ranging from €30,000 – 50,000 per project. Concept notes must be sent to tender@ecreee.org by 6 November 2020, 23:59 Cape Verde time to be considered for evaluation.

WEBINAR: Financing for women-owned businesses

The grant will only cover investment-related costs, specifically relating to the purchase of energy equipment and technologies.

Applicants are encouraged to submit proposals in the following areas:

  • Energy efficiency improvements;
  • Lighting (green electricity);
  • Electricity for powering equipment used for productive activities;
  • Heat for productive activities including agricultural purposes, etc.

All applications will be subjected to the following criteria which must be met:

  • Sector or strategic fit;
  • Development impact;
  • Regional priority;
  • Institutional capacity;
  • Gender responsiveness.
